What’s Coming in 2015……….

News

Hey guys n gals,

This year, although I have been busy behind the scenes here at A.P.T, I haven’t done anywhere near enough blog posts to keep you up to date with what’s happening and what to expect in the near future, so with that in mind, here is a peek into what to expect from the team here at A.P.T in 2015

2015 is set up as the GAMECHANGER for the athletes and members of A.P.T

Monday 5th January will kickstart the new year program and on that very first day we will have the start of our brand new January Jeans ladies training program. A short course designed especially to get you ladies back into those too tight jeans after the excesses of the party season in double quick time. ( Limited places are still available on this )

We will be looking to open up more semi personal training groups and more large group training programs. What does this mean for you?   Well firstly and most importantly these semi personal programs will enable us to get you working in small groups of up to 6 with  1 coach so that you still get the personal touch with each session but as you are working in small groups, you benefit from better results, more banter, more competition and teamwork. Finally, it gives you the opportunity to experience personal training with friends or likeminded individuals that will quickly become new friends and will reduce your costs too.

Large group training ( up to 20 per group ) will also continue at the facility with myself and the other coaches Jimmy, Dean and Chris opening up new slots and new programs. There will be NO MORE CLASSES , instead these will be replaced by NEW TRAINING PROGRAMS. Each program will last for between 4 – 12 weeks and will be progressive to help you achieve better results with Wednesday circuits now changing its name to AFTERBURN.

One of the brand new programs I will be running will be “FIT MOMS” starting in January on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9.30am. This will be the first time that I have run daytime large group sessions and they are intended for moms with young children who drop their kids off at school/ nursery/ or playgroup and find themselves just running around after others. This is time for young moms to change their lives and put themselves first for a while with a 45 minute workout to uplift and energise them for the day ahead.

I will also be introducing a monthly fee which has been trialled by my PT clients but will include all sessions under one fee so the more you train, the cheaper it will be. The idea behind this is to build more of a community feel amongst you and for you to make new friends and training partners. There are also plans for open gym sessions at set times daily which will also be included in your fee.

So, you have now seen some of the planned changes that we are making to make YOUR facility better for 2015 but if you have any ideas of what you would like to see or do, then PLEASE let us know.

Clive retains the British Championship Title

News

A.P.T athlete Clive Biggs has defied all the odds to once again win the British Masters Judo Championship u66kg title.

On the 18th October 2013 Clive underwent major knee surgery for a ruptured ACL , an injury that has ended many a professional sportsman’s career, indeed, that was the same injury that stopped me from playing rugby.

However, Clive always had other ideas and never let it become a reason for quitting. With a combination of physiotherapy and rehab at the A.P.T Facility followed by a periodised training schedule including swimming, weights, bodyweight training and plyometrics, Clive has come back stronger, fitter and more powerful than ever before at the ripe young age of 57.

Fast forward from the surgery exactly 12 months to the very date and Clive is standing on the edge of the judo mat about to attempt to regain the title that he wasn’t able to defend the previous year.

A mixture of fitness, experience and dogged determination saw him win the title to become the most prolific u66kg masters judoka of this century.

I was by his side when he won and to be honest, I’m in awe of his drive to continue to compete at the highest level and I’m also extremely proud to have had the opportunity to be involved in working with Clive on a weekly basis to enable him to continue to be the best of the best.

List of achievements at u66kg

2002 – World Masters Individual Bronze

2003 – British Masters Champion

2005 – British Masters Champion

2006 – Commonwealth Masters Bronze

2007 – World Masters Team GB Silver

2009 – World Masters Team GB Gold

2010 – World Masters Team GB Silver and Bronze

2011 – British Masters Champion

2012 – Commonwealth Masters Champion – British Masters Champion

2014 – British Masters Champion

Charity Workout……… Coming Soon

News

To help mark the 2nd anniversary of the opening of the facility, we have decided to hold a big charity workout.

This will take place on Saturday 15th November between 10.00am – 12.00pm.

The idea is that the 4 coaches will each lead 2 x 15 minute mini workouts over the 2 hours with the other coaches assisting participants with technique and motivation. This will enable anyone regardless of ability, age or fitness level to join in the workout fun and raise funds for our 2 chosen charities.

The charities that we have decided to support for this are the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer. We will not be charging a fee or asking for sponsorship, we only ask that you make a donation of your choice ( of course if you want to raise funds by sponsorship, that is cool with us ).

Please join us and bring along friends and family to join in the fun and raise as much as possible for these fantastic charities. You don’t need to be a member of A.P.T to come along, in fact we welcome as many new faces as possible so even if you currently go to a bootcamp, or another gym please just come and train for this one morning at A.P.T

There is no pressure to train for the full 2 hours, just 15 minutes is fine but you are more than welcome to stay as long as you wish. If we get as many participants as I hope, then we would switch things around so that you all get chance to get on the floor for some training and I’m also more than happy to keep going past the 2 hours if demand is there.

The address is Athletic Performance Training, Unit 4, Fairfield Court, Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove, B61 9 NJ  just 3 minutes from M5 Junction 4 so easily assessable from Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Stourbridge, Hagley, Clent etc

See you there

30 Day 10 Minute Exercise Challenge

News

Well summer seems to be over quite quickly so now its time to change focus to the oncoming winter and dare I say it Christmas!!!!!!!

Well, there is a while fortunately till Christmas but all the same, it won’t be long till those party invitations come through the post and email chain, then we will all be thinking about what to wear and whether we can still get into last years party clothes haha.

So, I decided to challenge everyone to do 30 days of 10 minute bodyweight workouts, you know what  its like trying to motivate yourself to get back to the gym or exercise after your summer holidays I know that lots of people suffer from a lack of motivation this time of year, so just 10 minutes each day in addition to your usual gym work, if you are going at the moment, and I believe that will help you to overcome your motivation issues and get back into a healthy lifestyle.

If you have no motivation issues then just use the challenge as an extra , push yourself as hard as possible and post your scores on the page for all to see :)

The workouts will be posted on the page the evening before so that you can do them if you wish 1st thing in the morning

Exciting News……….

News

Hey Guys,

This is probably the last blog post you will get for a while cause I’m going away to explore Thailand for a couple of weeks :-)

But before I go, I have some exciting news to share……….

We now have an all new YouTube channel called  A.P.T tv  which is now live!!!!!!

Click the link to check it out  and please SUBSCRIBE to get all the updates     https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFfCPGsIAVwxdPjMC42WhiQ

I have uploaded some videos on there for you all to see but check out the playlists, where the vids are grouped together in categories. You can see some old videos of when I first started coaching out in parks and at the local rugby club, along with a cool little video testimonial that we shot back then.  There are also some athlete training videos showing the type of stuff that we get up to behind the closed doors at the Athletic Performance Training Facility.  As well as our 2 WORLD RECORDS that we as a training facility hold.

If this looks too hardcore for you then don’t worry, I always scale the training depending on the ability of the people that I am training so that wherever you are at, you will still always get results.

Don’t worry that I will be going away shortly, the facility will stay open for the following times for group sessions and also for pre-booked private sessions

Saturday      10.30am                           20/10

Tuesday         7.30pm                          Core and Conditioning

Wednesday   7.30pm                          Group Circuits

Contact me NOW on 07930 753784 for details of how we can transform you.

Our 1st year at the Athletic Performance Training Facility

News

Well, the 1st 12 months at the facility has flown by and as with anything in life we’ve had some major highs with one or two low points sprinkled in.

After lots of preparation, hard work and laser – focused vision, we opened the doors to the Athletic Performance Training Facility in a blaze of glory on Saturday 17th November 2012.

Well, I say a blaze of glory, looking back, it was more of a fizzle really :)   Leading up to the opening, I had spent only 11 months coaching full time and had built up a good reputation for getting good results working from parks and fields with an average number of clients, but as Autumn approached and lots of my clients went to various colleges and universities and with a couple of non training related injuries, the number dwindled down to just one bootcamp per week of about 8 plus 5 P.T clients seeing me between 1-3 times per week. Not exactly at bursting was I?   But I was convinced that with a credible facility and the results that I was still getting with my clients, that business would take off. Read More

We are WORLD RECORD HOLDERS!!!!!

News

Back on the 14th July 2013, 30 members of A.P.T joined together to attempt to set a new world record. The idea was to kettlebell swing 1,000,000lbs of weight in under 4 hours.

WHY????

Well, firstly to see if we could!! then secondly we used it as a fundraiser to help our officially sponsored athlete Lauren Rowles . Lauren is a wheelchair athlete hotly tipped for major success on the track. The members of A.P.T and genourous members of the public together raised close to £500.00 which will be used to help Lauren with her training when she is not track training or pushing herself to the limits at A.P.T

On Sunday 11th August I found out that we had OFFICIALLY SET A NEW WORLD RECORD !!!!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who got involved in helping, participating, watching and cheering us on through the pain and to those who sponsored us without being there.
